Abraham Lincoln Vampire Killer
Those that are interested in horror movies should look at 2012's Abraham Lincoln Vampire Killer. The movie was written by Seth Grahame Greene, whose previous work included Pride and Prejudice, and Zombies. The movie begins with Abraham Lincoln being beaten by evil slave holders. The action then picks up with the evil slave holder turning into a vampire. The vampire is responsible for beating to death Abraham Lincoln's mother. Consumed by revenge, Lincoln begins a campaign against the evil entity responsible for his mother’s death.
In a fight, Lincoln is almost killed by a vampire. He is saved by Henry Sturgis
(Dominic Cooper), who alerts Lincoln to the fact that vampires are taking over
the Southern states. He trains Lincoln to kill vampires but Lincoln is on a
personal quest to slay the vampire that killed his mother.
Graham Greene does a fine job of interweaving actual historic facts into this
vampire tale. It comments on Lincoln’s civil rights and presidential
accomplishments, as well as the American Civil War. Ultimately the tale is
about good versus evil, as Lincoln gets wind of the fact that primarily slaves
are being fed to the vampires. Since Lincoln was a crusader for justice in the
real world this vampire saga fits with some of his real life exploits.
The movie will be a hit on blu-ray as it features many interesting special
effects and is something that is sure to be popular. Timur Bekmambetov assembles a good cast that seem to be
enjoying the material. Walker, Cooper (a cartoonist’s rendition of Tim
Curry), and Sewell (wide-eyed and grizzled), deliver notable performances. There are also great
performances, particularly from the likes of Dominic Cooper who is super in his
role as the vampire killer, Sturgis. Those who are interested in learning a bit
of historical fact against a fictitious backdrop will definitely enjoy this
movie. This story has done relatively well in the theatre, and should continue
to be a hit on blu-ray too.
Abraham Lincoln Vampire Killer is filled with amazing special effects created
by Randy Goux from Method Studios. The fight scenes are superlative with lots
of dynamic scenes in the movie. The 3D slow-motion scenes and some of the blood
and violence make the movie entertaining. This is a worthwhile movie that
allows individuals to learn a bit of history in an exciting and dramatic way.
These are some of the reasons to take advantage of watching this amazing and
partially historic flick. Abraham Lincoln Vampire Killer is one entertaining
movie.
Those that are looking for a unique movie should find that Abraham Lincoln
Vampire Killer fits the bill. Without a doubt, the movie has visual
style but the screenplay lacks the
structure of the successful book. However, Lincoln comes across as a maniac Van
Helsing character instead of the real “good guy” from the History books.
